SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL

CITY OF HUDSON

June 12, 2006

Meeting called to order by Mayor Jack Breault in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 8:30 a.m.

PRESENT:  Mayor Breault, Alderpersons Randy Morrissette, Paul Radermacher, Lee Wyland, and Scot O’Malley.

ABSENT:  Dennis O’Connell, Carah Koch.

OTHERS PRESENT:  Devin Willi, Meili Hansen, Ann Carlson, and Randy Hanson.

APPLICATION OF HUDSON AREA JAYCEES FOR TEMPORARY CLASS “B”/“CLASS B” RETAILER’S LICENSE TO SELL BEER AND WINE JUNE 16-17, 2006 AT THE RIVER ROCK EVENT IN LAKEFRONT PARK:  Mayor Breault asked the City Clerk to review the application procedure and timelines.  She stated a wine application needed to be on file 15 days before Council could consider it.  The only part of the Jaycees’ application that could be addressed at the Special Meeting was the Temporary Class “B” (beer/malt beverage) license.  They could, if they desired, consider the “Class B” (wine) license on June 17th.

The topic of giving away wine was discussed.  Per the June 8, 2006 and June 12, 2006 memo and email from City Attorney Munkittrick, the giving away of wine is not allowed.  That would only be possible if they obtained a raffle license.  The representatives present from the Jaycees indicated they had not applied for one.

MOTION by O’Malley, second by Radermacher, to approve the Temporary Class “B” retailer’s license to the Hudson Jaycees to sell beer/malt beverages for the period June 16, 2006 through June 17, 2006 in Lakefront Park.  All ayes (4), MOTION CARRIED.

The issue of scheduling another special meeting to address the wine license portion of the application was held.  Mayor Breault asked the Jaycee members present if they wanted to be able to sell wine at the River Rock Festival on Saturday, June 17th.  They replied they did not.  Additional information included information that a wine license allows for wine to be sold by the glass, not the bottle.

MOTION by O’Malley, second by Radermacher, to adjourn the meeting. All ayes (4), MOTION CARRIED.  Meeting adjourned at 8:36 a.m.

Nancy Norvold, City Clerk
