CITY OF HUDSON ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2005 – 7:00 P.M.
Meeting called to order by
Mayor Breault in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Mayor Breault and Alderpersons Michael D.
Laatsch, Dennis B. O’Connell, Paul T. Radermacher, Roger W. Riedel, Scot E.
O'Malley and Carah C. Koch.
OTHERS PRESENT: Gordon Conard, and members of Carah Koch’s family.
ADMINISTERING
OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED ALDERPERSONS: Clerk Nancy Norvold administered the oath of office to the
re-elected Council members: District 1 Alderperson Michael Laatsch, District 5
Alderperson Scot O’Malley, and District 6 Alderperson Carah Koch.
Mayor
Breault announced that the purpose of the meeting was to appoint individuals to
various committees, boards and commissions.
PRESIDENT
OF THE COUNCIL: Mayor Breault
called for nominations. Riedel
nominated Scot O'Malley as President of the Common Council. Mayor Breault
called for additional nominations three times; no other nominations were
offered. MOTION by Riedel, second by O’Connell to elect Scot O’Malley as President
of the Common Council. All ayes, MOTION CARRIED.
PLAN
COMMISSION: Mayor Breault
explained that the Council needed to elect one Alderperson for a one-year term
on the Plan Commission. MOTION by O’Malley, second by Laatsch, to elect Carah
Koch for a one-year term on the Plan Commission. Mayor Breault called for additional nominations three times; none
were offered. All ayes, MOTION CARRIED.
STANDING
COMMITTEES: Mayor Breault announced
his appointments to the Standing Committees, noting that there would be no
changes from last year. He complimented
the Council members for a superb job.
The appointments were as follows:
Finance
Committee: Mayor Jack Breault,
Chairman, and Alderpersons Scot O'Malley, Mike Laatsch and Dennis O’Connell.
Public
Safety Committee: Alderperson
Dennis O’Connell, Chairman, and Alderpersons Roger Riedel and Paul Radermacher.
Public
Works Committee: Alderperson Scot
O'Malley, Chairman and Alderpersons Mike Laatsch and Carah Koch.
OTHER COMMITTEES: Mayor Breault announced the following Alderpersons were appointed
as voting members of the respective boards and commissions:
Community Access Board - Alderperson Carah Koch
St. Croix EMS Commission – Alderperson Paul Radermacher
Hudson Area Joint Library Board - Alderperson Dennis O’Connell
Park Board – Alderperson Paul Radermacher
Advisory Joint Fire Board - Alderperson Roger Riedel
ALDERMANIC LIAISONS: Mayor Breault appointed Alderperson Roger Riedel as liaison to
the School Board, Alderperson Carah Koch as liaison to the Tourism Bureau, and
Alderperson Mike Laatsch as liaison to the Public Utility Commission.
APPOINTMENTS
TO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: Mayor
Breault announced the following appointments:
Board
of Zoning Appeals: Mayor Breault
reported that last week he became aware of two openings on the Board. (That created the need to fill one
three-year position and two years remaining on another term.) He also stated he was waiting for
confirmation from a current member to accept reappointment for another term.
Mayor Breault stated he would announce these appointments at a future Council
meeting.
Hudson/North
Hudson Community Access Board: Elizabeth McCormick was reappointed to a three-year term.
Park Board: Mayor Breault indicated he was still accepting recommendations
for the five-year term on the Park Board.
He asked Council members for their suggestions, noting he hoped to
submit an appointment for approval at the next Council meeting.
Plan
Commission: Fred Yoerg was
reappointed for a three-year term.
Police
and Fire Commission: Mary Seyer
was reappointed for a five-year term.
Intergovernmental
Advisory Council: Mayor Breault
stated that he would continue attending the Intergovernmental Advisory Council
with an alternate Alderperson at each meeting.
Advisory
Joint Fire Board: Mayor Breault
appointed Lori Bernard as a citizen member at large.
MOTION by
O’Malley, second by Laatsch, to approve the foregoing Mayoral appointments of
Aldermanic Liaisons and members to boards and commissions. All ayes, MOTION CARRIED.
MOTION by O'Malley, second by O’Connell, to adjourn. MOTION CARRIED – 7:06 p.m.
